3/ My Life in Alcohol Consumption, Part III
Thirties: I gave birth to my first child at age 30, and alcohol lost all its appeal. It wasn't a physical thing; drinking just didn't fit into my life as a mother. The cocktail hours were retired and forgotten. My husband tried making wine a couple of times, but that result had no appeal whatsoever.

ReplyDeleteI enjoy a drink, but I'm pretty sure I lack the gene that causes one to be addicted to alcohol, and have gone through many dry periods without really missing it.
ReplyDeleteMost of my friends realize that especially when raising children, someone needs to be sober in case of emergencies.
