28/Secrets & Lies

I'm feeling guilty for not following Indigo's original premise for this month. So which one of the following statements is true?

1. I'm taking a class tonight to become a weather spotter.

2. I'm taking a class tonight to learn how to teach English as a second language.

3. I'm teaching a class tonight on apple-tree grafting.

  1. Number 3. But now I have to go back and reread the premise, because I likely am not following it either.

  2. Maybe you are just all lying about what you said you were going to do, which means you're still following the premise. I can't even get anything written this year!

  3. Was there an original premise? And if we somehow ended up not following it--which is very possible given that I wasn't aware one existed (although I realize ignorance is no excuse)--have we committed an original sin? In which case an apple must have been involved, ergo I think Maureen is correct.

  4. Oh, no--I've spread the guilt around! I believe Indigo originally suggested that we tell a secret or a lie, the idea being that we wouldn't necessarily know the difference. But I found myself writing about secrets and lies. Indigo was fine with this, as I knew she would be. So I'm not really feeling guilty, but mentioning guilt opened the door to today's post. (And I plan to use the device again.)

  5. Thanks for having confidence in me as a teacher of tree grafting, but the orchard would have been decimated. The true statement was #1: I am now a certified weather spotter. It's a cool thing to do with my ham radio license.

  6. I'm trying to imagine not spotting the weather. And that brings to mind when we lived in Kansas and we were the only people on our block who went to our basement when the tornado sirens went off. Everyone else went outside to see if they could see the funnel first.

  7. I was going to guess #1. I am quite a fan of weather myself. It was my favorite science unit to teach.

  8. They're called weather spotters, but it's more like weather reporting. Although that makes me sound like one of those cute people with the maps on TV.

  9. You could be one of those cute people with the maps on TV, Susan.

  10. I would be the token senior citizen, Mali. LOL
