For quite a long time in my forties when I approached the
hypnagogic state before sleep I would deliberately listen hard. Really strain
to listen. And then I would hear them: Phrases, sentences, uttered in different
voices and emotions. At first I thought they must be replays of conversations
I’d unconsciously overheard during the day. But they were something else.
This is spooky.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested.
ReplyDeleteWooooooo.
ReplyDeleteI can't say for certain what they are, but I think they're thoughts. It's possible that thought-statements, especially those powered by strong emotion, are "out there" to be picked up by good receivers. Or maybe they were spoken statements that, once uttered, end up out there too. I do know researchers in Norway were startled some years ago to discover that many normal, even average, people hear voices. I no longer induce this nighttime phenomenon after seeing something frightening in that hypnagogic state.
ReplyDeleteI am spooked and intrigued.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea. I've tried similar things, but Paul always starts snoring before I get there. (Serious here.)
ReplyDeleteYeah, that would ruin it for sure. :-)
