28/ Rhubarb!

A sturdy patch of rhubarb came with this house, and we use it and give it away every year. I love the flavor, but wish it didn't need so much damn sugar. Because it does, I haven't eaten it in a long time. Last weekend I made a rhubarb cake. The (other) adults loved it.

  1. I grew up with rhubarb. It needed sugar, as you said, so I hated it. I found a Jamie Oliver recipe with pork and rhubarb, and like it that way, but it's really the only way I will eat it. Haven't made it for a long time, so must make it this winter.

  2. I love rhubarb. My mom had a patch by the garage that I dug up and brought to Bethesda. I've not cut it yet because i want to make sure it has a good enough root system. Next spring though for sure.

When I was a kid I used to cut a stalk and eat it. I guess I liked the tartness then, I don't think I'd do that now.

My favorite pie is strawberry rhubarb.

  3. I do love rhubarb, but I let other people serve it to me, for the most part!

  4. I'm about to make another rhubarb cake, this one for my son and daughter-in-law. Wish I could share with all! (Except maybe Mali, because it'll have sugar in it. And no pork.) ;-)
