27/ Beans!
Over the years my vegetable growing has gradually winnowed down to beans. Pole beans. Our favorite is Kentucky Wonder, but I can't resist trying others. This year I'll add Blauhilde. After I saw a bean arch online my son and I made this one, bending a 16-ft. cattle panel in half to make an 8-ft. arch.
The first bean arch, 2010
The second one, 2015, later moved to my son's garden

This is post #2 for June, so I should be writing it on June 2. This is what I've done ever since our blogging project started in January...
Who knew beans could be pretty too?
ReplyDeleteWow, it's like a living, edible sculpture.
ReplyDeleteThis is very cool.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing these either on Facebook or your blog, Susan, and tried to explain it to my family when they were building my raised beds. I ended up just letting the beans grow over the picket fence, but I still love your bean-arch.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, and probably so much easier to pick from.
ReplyDeleteJealous of your pretty yard as always. I love especially that it is useful and ornamental.
ReplyDeleteSusan, I hope you're doing OK...
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm hoping to get past this without taking doxycycline. So I'm juicing vegetables and resting more. Being out every day this week didn't help. Had to leave Scrabble in the middle of the game on Thursday because I started getting ocular migraine #4 (four in five days). Hate the night sweats. Indulged myself with some computer use today. Feels good to connect with you guys.
