When I was 11, my dad took me out to lunch to explain something I'd overheard in an argument between him and my new stepmother. He told me, somewhat apologetically, that he'd had two brief marriages before he met my mom. I could tell he thought I'd be shocked. But I thought it was very cool.

ReplyDeleteNo, they were probably still in NYC but in different social circles. But one of them appeared in many of the photos I've posted on FB. I thought at first she was a girlfriend of his (they were young), but at some point realized who it probably was.
ReplyDeleteThat a lot to take in from an 11 year old, but at least, your father was being honest with you. Sorry that you got caught in the middle of all this at such a young age...
