24/ A Poem for Children


Barking Birds

 Canada geese wave playfully;
a squiggly "V" divides the sky.
Their conversation sounds to me
like 50 dogs have learned to fly.

      You're all such a good cheering section. Nothing is in the works, but I'll tell myself (again) that something should be. Yes, I'll read them to my grandsons. I might submit them to Highlights, but I know the editors, and that makes rejection awkward.
