25/ Nuts (to me)

When I got serious about cutting carbs long-term, nuts became my dessert—and more. Delicious walnuts contain exceptionally healthy fat, and addictive pistachios are heart-healthy too. Edgar Cayce, the "Sleeping Prophet," said people who eat two or three raw almonds a day need never fear cancer. But my Lyme doctor said no to peanuts.

    1. Why no peanuts? I assumed it was because peanuts contain a mold (aspergillus) that the Lyme spirochetes thrive on. But I never asked because even before he gave me the dietary restrictions I'd discovered I felt better without peanuts.

  2. I could live without peanuts. But I have a Brazil nut for selenium once a day, and try to have a few almonds most days too.

  3. I eat peanuts and almonds when we have them. Rarely walnuts, sometimes pistachios.
