My dad's extensive photographic legacy includes many of his parents' publicity stills, especially my grandfather's. A handsome operatic baritone, Harry Luckstone traveled around the country with the Aborn Opera Company. The New York Public Library's Digital Collection includes two photos of him. When I saw them, I couldn't resist ordering a gorgeous
print of this one. It hangs over my piano.
I have no famous relatives. My grandmother insists a distant relative invented the revolving door. It seems a bit mundane to make up.
ReplyDeleteYou really need to look into that. It seems like it merits a biography.
DeleteAlas, my grandmother and all her siblings are long gone.
DeleteSuch a useful invention! There are many kinds of fame...
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous!
ReplyDeleteUmm, is that a dead animal on his hat?
ReplyDeleteAmazing photograph!
ReplyDeleteThanks, guys! Helen, I really, really hope it's feathers.
